My name is Jan Laskowski. I was born and raised in Poland. That is where I first picked up a camera over 12 years ago. Since that day I have been dilligently learning about photography and many other art forms. I then moved to Indianapolis to attend Taylor University and I have been living here for the past 10 years. I graduated from Taylor University with a degree in Graphic Art with a concentration in Photography. Since graduation I have worked as a freelance photographer and graphic designer. I was recently hired as a Graphic & Fulfillment specialist at a company called Only Indiana.
I love traveling the world and finidng the most beutiful places on earth. I enjoy everything from learning about different cultures, trying new delicious foods, and exploring the natural beauty of every place.
When traveling to new places I enjoy going into populated areas to peoplwatch. There's something exciting about observing people from different cultures and demographics. There's a lot you can learn just from seeing the way people interact.
Architecture is an art form that has the ability to delight, inspire, and transform. I find so much beauty and complexity in architecture. Exploring what a city has to offer can really show the history and life of a place.

When it comes to portaits I always think of the quote by Diane Arbus "A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know" This couldn't be more true. When I photograph portraits I strive to convey the personaliy and message that the individual desires. This is not always easy but seeing the clients happiness when I capture their portrait the way they invisioned it brings true joy.
Commercial photography may be one of the most challenging yet enjoyable forms of photography. I've always been a problem solver and I have to say that commercial photos never go as easily as planned. This form of photography lets me utilize all of my creativity and skills that go far beyond just handling a camera and some lights.
It seems that all my life I've never stopped wanting to learn new things. That's what this experimental photography gallery is for. This is where I share my unique ideas and techniques. This may vary anywhere from an odd concept, to a photograph of a sculpture I made, to a homemade film camera, to experiments with developing a roll of film in the wrong chemicals to see what happens.
